CHILE - Archipiélago de Chiloé

Darwin pasó por la isla de Chiloé con el Beagle en tres ocasiones y se sentía nostálgico, porque le recordaba a Inglaterra… ¡Habrán pasado dos siglos, pero la isla sigue estando cubierta por esos bosques y prados verdes tan bonitos!

Yo tenía sólo dos días para conocer Chiloé (y su archipiélago) y siendo la segunda isla más grande de Sudamérica se merece al menos una semana de visita. ¡Pero al final estoy bastante contento de lo que conseguí ver en tan poco tiempo!

En mi hostal conocí por primera vez a una paraguaya, Flo, y con ella recorrí primero Castro (el pueblo principal de la isla con su iglesia de madera protegida por la UNESCO y sus palafitos - casas de colores construidas sobre pilotes de madera) y luego el Parque Nacional Chiloé (con su tupido bosque y su interminable playa, donde encontramos huesos de ballena); antes de visitar la isla de Quinchao y volver ya al continente…

Darwin visited the island of Chiloé with the Beagle three times and always felt nostalgic because it reminded him of England... two centuries have passed, but the island is still covered by natural forests and green meadows!

I had only two days to see Chiloé (and its islands) and being the second largest island in South America it deserves at least a week's visit… But in the end I'm pretty glad I managed to see much of it in so little time!

For the first time I met a Paraguayan in my hostel, Flo, and together we walked first Castro (the main town on the island with its wooden church protected by UNESCO and its “palafitos” - colored houses built on stilts) and then Chiloé National Park (with its dense forests and endless beach, where we found whale bones), before visiting the island of Quinchao and then returning to the mainland...
