ARGENTINA - Mendoza

Cuando estuve en Argentina hace dos años no pude visitar Mendoza y la región del vino, así que ahora tenía muchas ganas de ir y conocer los encantos de esta ciudad, famosa por los buenos vinos y la belleza de sus mujeres… Ahora ya puedo decir que ninguno de los dos decepcionaron!! ;-)

El hostel Damajuana y su jardín con piscina son preciosos, pero en cuanto llegué en el bus nocturno y dejé mis cosas en el cuarto, me apunté al primer tour de los viñedos que salía en una hora… En realidad, no es un “tour”, sino que te alquilan las bicicletas y te dan un mapa para que visites las bodegas. La sorpresa fue coincidir con Rachel (la chica inglesa que me cruzo regularmente desde Perú) y junto a Miriam, (la chica alemana de mi hostel) decidimos pasar el día juntos, disfrutando de los ricos vinos locales y el bonito paisaje, entre viñedos y campos de olivos al sol…

El otro aspecto que hace famosa a Mendoza es su vida nocturna y sus mujeres, así que tras pasar la mañana siguiente paseando la ciudad (dos fuertes terremotos han destruido su centro histórico, pero está llena de bonitas plazas, avenidas y parques) y la tarde disfrutando la piscina, reunimos un “Dream Team” internacional en el hostel, compuesto por Rachel (Inglaterra), Miriam (Alemania), Mike (EEUU), Jess (Australia), Carolina (Brasil), Oriol (Barcelona) y yo, para disfrutar de la larga noche mendocina… Todos teníamos que levantarnos pronto al día siguiente, pero eso no nos impidió irnos a dormir a las 6 de la mañana…

When I was in Argentina two years ago I could not visit Mendoza and the wine region, so now I really wanted to go and meet the charms of this city, famous for its fine wines and the beauty of its women... Now I can say that neither disappointed! ;-)

The hostel Damajuana and its garden with pool are beautiful, but as soon as I arrived on the night bus and left my stuff in the bedroom, I joined the first tour of the vineyards that started in an hour... Actually, it’s not a "tour": they rent you the bikes, providing a map to visit the wineries. The surprise was to find Rachel (the English girl I’ve been meeting regularly since Peru) and then with Miriam, (the German girl from my hostel) we decided to spend the day together, enjoying the delicious local wines and beautiful countryside, vineyards and fields of olive trees in the sun...

The other aspects that make Mendoza famous are its nightlife and women, so after spending the morning walking around the city (two strong earthquakes have destroyed its historic center, but it is still full of beautiful squares, avenues and parks), and the afternoon enjoying the pool, we gathered an international "Dream Team" in our hostel, consisting of Rachel (England), Miriam (Germany), Mike (USA), Jess (Australia), Carolina (Brazil), Oriol (Barcelona) and I, to enjoy a long Mendoza night... We all had to get up early the next day, but that didn’t stop us from going back to bed at 6 in the morning...
