COLOMBIA - Cartagena (Cont.)

Al final decidí prolongar dos noches más mi estancia en Cartagena, porque necesitaba descansar y esta ciudad es perfecta para disfrutar de unos días de tranquilidad… Y eso que es famosa por su ambiente nocturno!!

Tras una primera mañana dedicada a organizar mis proximos destinos, albergues, vuelos, descargar fotos y responder emails, me pasé la tarde paseando el centro historico y terminé cenando con Merche (la sevillana que conocí en Taganga) y con sus amigos locales. Fue muy curiosa la sesion colectiva de “zumba” y coreografias que monta todos los domingos una francesa en la Plaza Trinindad. Se llena de gente de todas las edades (incluyendo un nutrido grupo de niños) bailando durante horas…

Ayer decidí pasar el día de excursion en las Islas del Rosario e ir a Playa Blanca, de la que todo el mundo me habia hablado muy bien. Se trata de un archipielago frente a Cartagena, de preciosos islotes de manglares y playas blancas, pero la excursión en sí fue de lo mas decepcionante… pasé el día metido en un barco con 200 personas, para que nos dejaran un par de horas en una playa masificada y llena de chiringuitos concentrados en una franja de cinco metros de ancho y sin posibilidad de adentrarse en la isla porque es propiedad privada…

Cuando por fín volví al albergue, me fui al cine a ver El Dictador y me partí de risa. Hoy dejo el Caribe y vuelo a Medellin, donde están en plena fiesta de las Flores. Veremos qué tal la ciudad.

In the end I decided to prolong my stay two nights in Cartagena, because I needed some rest and this city is perfect to enjoy some quiet days... And still it’s famous for its nightlife!

After an early morning dedicated to organizing my next destinations, hostels, flights, downloading photos and answering emails, I spent the afternoon wandering around the historic center and ended up having dinner with Merche (the girl from Seville I met in Taganga) and her local friends. There was a  very curious collective session of "zumba" and choreography organised every Sunday by a French lady in the Plaza Trinindad. It is filled with people of all ages (including a large group of children) dancing for hours…

Yesterday I decided to spend the day in theexcursion to Rosario Islands and go to Playa Blanca, the beach everyone I had told me very well about. It is an archipelago close to Cartagena of beautiful mangrove islands and white beaches, but the tour itself was the most disappointing... I spent the day stuck in a boat with 200 people and they left us a couple of hours in a overcrowded beach full of bars concentrated in a strip five metres wide and unable to get into the island because it was private property...

When I returned at last to the hostel, I went to the cinema to see The Dictator and I laughed out loud. Today I leave the Caribbean and fly to Medellin, where they are currently at the Flower Festival. We'll see how’s the town!
