PERÚ - Camino Inca a Macchu Picchu

Por mucho que hayas visto mil fotos de Macchu Picchu o te lo hayan contado, estar allí es otra cosa. ¡Y llegar tras cuatro días de marcha atravesando 42 Kms de desfiladeros y montañas impresionantes, sitios arqueológicos increíbles y tres pasos de montaña a 4.200m, siguiendo el camino original de los incas, es aun más emocionante!

El Camino Inca está protegido y controlado diréctamente por el Estado peruano, así que solo se puede acceder con guía y porteadores, a través de agencia y reservando 6 meses antes. Siendo Macchu Picchu el mayor destino arqueológico del continente, el precio es exagerado, pero aun así no me arrepiento de haber buscado una agencia más cara, porque viendo las condiciones en las que otras tratan a los porteadores me hubiese dado aun más vergüenza que llevasen parte de mi equipaje…

Afortunadamente, 7 personas cancelaron en el último momento, así que nuestro grupo era relativamente pequeño: tres estadounidenses, un inglés, dos canadienses, una suiza y yo. ¡Y para nosotros 8… había 14 porteadores (uno de ellos cocinero) y un guía! Desde el principio, el ambiente fue fantástico y nos reímos un montón… a ello contribuyeron también las bromas y situaciones a las que dio lugar la estatura de Greg, el canadiense: 2.14m!! Creemos que es el tipo más alto en hacer el Camino Inca… ;-))

Even if you've seen a thousand photos of Macchu Picchu or others have told you, being there is something else. And getting after four days of walking through 42 Kms of stunning mountains and valleys, amazing archaeological sites, three mountain passes at 4,200 m, following the original path of the Incas, is even more exciting!

The Inca Trail is protected and controlled directly by the Peruvian State, so only accessible with a guide and porters, through agency and booking 6 months in advance. Being Macchu Picchu the largest  archaeological destination in the continent, the price is exaggerated, but still I do not regret having sought a more expensive agency , because seeing the conditions in which others treat the porters, I would have been even more ashamed of having them carrying part of my luggage...

 

Fortunately, seven people canceled at the last minute, so our group was relatively small: three Americans, one English, two Canadians, one Swiss and me. And for us 8... we had 14 porters (one cook) and a guide! From the start, the atmosphere was fantastic and we laughed a lot... something which also contributed to the jokes and situations was the Canadian Greg's height: 2.14m! (7  feet). We believe he is the tallest person having done the Inca Trail... ;-))
