PERÚ - Arequipa

No queríamos dormir en Nazca, así que tras otra noche en bus, reunimos otra vez nuestro pequeño grupo con Gary en Arequipa.

Ya sólo el Monasterio de Santa Catalina merece la visita a la ciudad, pero los palacios coloniales y las iglesias barrocas en piedra volcánica blanca son también espectaculares. El Monasterio es un pueblo cerrado dentro de la ciudad en el que llegaron a vivir en un momento 500 mujeres desde el S.XVI y que aun tiene algunas monjas de clausura. La belleza de sus calles y colores es como de cuento, pero impresiona mucho recorrer las casas de esas mujeres recluidas de por vida…

Al pasar por el restaurante del chef Gastón Acurio, “Chicha”, nos apeteció tanto darnos el lujo que reservamos para la cena. Yo cometí el error de almorzar tarde y abundante, pero no pude resistirme al festival de sabores y colores que nos pusieron delante en la cena… una de las cenas más deliciosas y variadas que he tomado nunca!! Salímos literalmente rodando…

We did not want to sleep in Nazca, so after another night bus, we gathered again our little group with Gary in Arequipa.

Already the Monastery of Santa Catalina is worth the visit to the city, but the colonial palaces and baroque churches in white volcanic stone are also spectacular. The Monastery is a cosed village within the city in which 500 women came to live at a certain moment since the sixteenth century and still has some nuns. The beauty of its streets and colors is like a fairy tale but visiting the houses of those women imprisoned for life is very impressive...

When passing by the restaurant of the chef Gastón Acurio, "Chicha", we couldn’t help the great temptation and we booked for dinner. I made the mistake of a late and abundant lunch, but I could not resist the festival of flavors and colors that were put before us at dinner... one of the most delicious and varied dinners I've ever had! We left the place literally rolling down the street...
